Miguel Zenon (CWW092010)

September 2010 brought us MacArthur “Genius” Award recipient, Miguel Zenon, who presented the North American debut of his next project, La Rayuela in Hartford, CT.

Rayuela is the title of the amazing novel by Argentinean author Julio Cortazar that takes place both in Paris and in Buenos Aires. Miguel teams up with French pianist Laurent Coq in writing the music with Miguel focusing on the Parisian chapters as an inspiration for his writing and Laurent on the Argentinian parts.

This new music has it’s world debut in Paris, at the Sunside Jazz club, in April, with an atypical quartet featuring cello and trombone player Dana Leong and percussion and tabla master Dan Weiss.

Over 125 came out to experience this truly special evening with four musicians at the top of their game.
