**************************
Since its inception in Lima in 1999, Cuer2 has created eight shows that have been presented in numerous theaters and festivals in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Ecuador. The original creative method implemented by the group focuses on the process: a series of workshops and creative laboratories propel a constant state of theatrical investigation and redefinition of the final product.
The process of creation for Hebras followed two lines of investigation. The group experimented with the notion of gravitation within the theater space: what happens when two bodies come closer and move apart alternatively, in a movement of perpetual attraction and rejection? These movements draw the metaphor of the fragile threads that bring us together but can break at any moment. Hebras also explores the platonic myth of the androgynous, as narrated in Plato’sSymposium: the human being is in constant search of the other, of this complement that will make him/her feel complete. The sole instrument of expression is the body; there is no use for words. The result is like a ritual in which the audience surrounds the masked actors.
Center without Walls collaborates with Bregamos Community Theater from New Haven to present Elizardo Castro’s one man performance, Made in Puerto Rico: Life,Liberty and the pursuit of Spanglish
Elizardo Castro / 25, Feb 2011 • 7pm / Kinsella School / Hartford / $20
Puerto Rican actor and comedian Elizardi Castro blends his great sense of voice, excellent timing and sharp mimicry in his original one-man comedy, “Made in Puerto Rico.”
“Castro is a likable guy with keen observational skills and a gift for channeling seemingly every one of his relatives, from undermining cousins to his gently bossy mother and worrywart abuelito.”
